i wanted to write this yesterday, but comp decides he is better friends with my sis, so ignored me. ohyes, disclaimer: dont read if you think i already sound like i'mma geek, haha.
anyhow, i was really inspired during 2-hour geog lecture yeterday. we were dwindling down content-wise, last few lectures of urban geog. my teacher covered transportation and the problems that cities face managing it, in the first hour. since it was something close to everyone's hearts, that was quite a buzz in the room, as we exchange little anecdotes about our own encounters with congested buses, long waiting hours, etc.. then, the next hour, my teacher moved on to soci0-economic problems in cities, and why we care. immediately, the mood became more serious and sombre as we considered the less fortunate in society, the existence of status, class and race divides.
one minute we got to sharing small stories of each other's lives, and the next, peeked into the lives of people living much worse off than us. i almost had a goosebump moment. haha, i know. but it was great to see how geog is realy a living subject. it explores all facets of living, interacting with time and space. i cant even remember when this passion for geog began. maybe during the times in toapayoh library 9,10 years ago. maybe during ss in primary school. maybe during geog lessons in sec school.. no matter, i will still wanna continue studying this at tertiary level. because, to be cheesy, you can never get tired of learning about your world. how can you? :)
i apologise if i bore thy readers to death. haah.
